Cellular phone numbers in Canada have 7 digits. These 7 digits are always prefixed with an area code of 3 digits.
If you are calling a Canadian cell phone from within Canada, dial 1, followed by the area code and subscriber number. e.g. For a call to a New Brunswick cell phone from anywhere in Canada, dial 1-506-xxx-xxxx.
Receiving calls from abroad

Toll-free numbers in Canada are 3-digit numbers that always begin with 8. The following are toll-free numbers in Canada:

Tips for Calling Internationally from Canada
If calling internationally from Canada, always dial the country’s international access code, 011, followed by the country code of the country you are calling, area code, and local subscriber number. The exception is for international calls to the U.S.: simply dial 1, followed by the area code and subscriber number.
Pay phones in Canada are fairly affordable, costing about US20¢ for a 3-minute local call. For long-distance and international calls, purchase a calling card. Calls from your hotel room will always be more expensive than calls from pay phones.
