- April and May are popular months for tourism in South Korean. An influx of tourists can make bargains harder to find.

- Seoul has a number of “barefoot parks.” These feature special walking paths with different rocks thought to have therapeutic qualities.
- Jinhae hosts the popular Cherry Blossom Festival in early April.
- Karaoke is a popular Korean pastime. You may even find it on some tourist buses!
- Kyoungbokgung is known as the “Palace of Shining Happiness.” Located in Seoul, it is wonderful place to learn about traditional Korean culture.
- The Korean language has been influenced by English in many ways. In fact, some Koreans use the term “Konglish” to describe a mixture of the two. Common Konglish terms include “eye shopping” (window shopping) and “hand phone” (mobile phone).
- South Korea’s most famous dish is kimchi, a fermented spicy vegetable (usually cabbage, radish, or cucumber). It is served as a side with most meals.
- Check out some of the country’s many bathhouses. Many cities have both simple, traditional bathhouses and more luxurious, spa-like ones.
- At traditional Korean restaurants, meat is cooked in the center of the table. Once cooked, it is wrapped in lettuce leaves with rice, garlic, and seasonings.
- Public transportation is a great way to get around Seoul. Don’t worry—station names are printed in English on most maps.
- Contemporary South Korean culture is strongly influenced by technology. The country has the highest rates of high-speed home Internet access in the world; about 60% of homes are equipped with high-speed connections.
