Statutory holidays are legislated through the federal, provincial, or territorial governments. Most employees are entitled to take off work during statutory holidays. Victoria Day (a Monday on or before May 24th), Thanksgiving (2nd Monday in October), and Remembrance Day (November 11th) are statutory in most provinces.
