If you are calling internationally to Canada, dial the international access code of the country you’re calling from first. Next, dial Canada’s country code, 1, followed by the area code and local subscriber number. e.g. For a call to Montreal from Mexico City, dial 00 (Mexico’s international access code), followed by 1-514-xxx-xxxx. Trying to call Toronto from London? Dial 00-1-416-xxx-xxxx.
For domestic long-distance calls, always dial 1, followed by the area code and subscriber number. e.g. If you are calling from Montreal to Saskatchewan, dial 1-306-xxx-xxxx. Instructions for Calling to Cell Phones in Canada
Calling a cellular phone in Canada is a lot like calling a land line. Cellular phones do not have special cellular prefixes; like land lines, they have area codes based on their primary calling area. If calling a cell phone internationally, dial the international access code, country code, area code, and subscriber number. e.g. For a call from Manila to a cell phone in Quebec City, dial 00-1-418-xxx-xxxx. For a domestic call to that same cell phone, just dial 1-418-xxx-xxxx.
